We are a new subgroup of the Society for Creative Anachronism, an international historical society that specialises in learning the skills, arts and crafts of the pre-1600 era. Drawing upon the cultures of Europe and further afield, our society is a melting pot of ideas, enthusiasm and enjoyment as we practice.

By adopting an identity from these eras, we are able to experience the practical aspects of life in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance in the first person – at our own pace, to our own commitment and enjoyment. The SCA is about getting stuck in and having fun.

Here in Hertfordshire, we already have members in St Albans, Bishop's Stortford, Hemel Hempstead, Hatfield, and Wheathampstead, and would like you to join us.

We have plans for informal trips to ancient pubs, crafting afternoons, costumed social gatherings and trips to historic sites such as Old Hatfield House, Montfichet Castle, Audley End, Berkhamstead Castle, and the various battlefields in the county.

As we are part of a larger organisation, we would like to also invite you to events held across the country and Europe. These range from fighting, feasting and socialising, workshops in dance or calligraphy, to weekends of pomp and pageantry in castles, palaces and stately homes, through to our flagship event – a ten-day camp at Raglan castle in Wales.

Fancy having a go? Drop us a line!
